The Mediating Effects of Social Comparison on the Relationships between SNS Addiction Tendency and Depressive Symptoms of the Mothers of Infants

Abstract
This study sought to the mediating effects of social comparison on the relationships between SNS addiction tendency and depressive symptoms of the mothers of Infants. The subjects of this study were 209 mother with infants located in the Seoul, Metropolitan area and Busan. This study can be summarized as follows. First, when simple regression analysis was performed to verify the relationship between SNS addiction tendency and Social comparison, it was revealed that the level of SNS addiction tendency had a significant impact on the social comparison. Second, when simple regression analysis was performed to verify the relationship between social comparison and depressive symptoms, it was revealed that the level of Social comparison had a significant impact on the depressive symptoms. Third, our results showed that the score of upward social comparison had a mediating effect between the SNS addiction tendency and depressive symptoms. In conclusion, this study verified that mothers of Infants with SNS addiction tendencies affects upward comparisons, thus leading to depressive symptoms.
